Myron Massey is the current Director of Bands at Palisades High School located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to that he served as the Director of Bands at Bunker Hill High School in Claremont, North Carolina and the Assistant Band Director at Asheville High School in Asheville, North Carolina. The Band Program at Palisades High School currently offers a comprehensive band program which includes multiple concert bands, a competitive extracurricular Marching Band, Jazz Band, Color Guard (Fall and Winter), Indoor Percussion, Pit Orchestra for the Spring Musical, and Symphony Orchestra, both of which combines with the school's orchestra program.

 

The Marching Band, Winter Guard, and Indoor Percussion competes in both North and South Carolina and has won numerous caption awards. The concert and jazz programs have received superior and excellent ratings at state Music Performance Adjudication events and have put on joint concerts with the Carolinas Wind Orchestra and the Wind Ensemble at Catawba College.

In 2026 The Palisades Wind Ensemble was invited to perform in the 1st annual Niner Concert Band Invitational held at UNC-Charlotte. The Winter Guard was the 2024 CWEA Regional AA Grand Champion and 2025 CWEA Regional A Round Champion in its first two years of existence. In 2026 The Indoor Percussion Program became the first CMS percussion ensemble since 2019 to make WGI finals at a regional. 
 
Massey has had students make All-County Band, All-District Band, All-State Concert Band, Region Jazz Band, Region Orchestra, All-State Orchestra, USC Honor Band Clinic, and the UNCC Honor Band Invitational. His Marching Bands have won numerous caption awards over time and has had concert and jazz ensembles earn superior and excellent ratings in grades 3-6 at North Carolina Bandmasters Events and other adjudicated events. In 2022 The Bunker Hill High School Jazz Band won the Most Outstanding Ensemble at the UNC-Charlotte 49er Jazz Festival.  In 2019 the Bunker Hill High School Jazz Band was chosen to be a featured performing ensemble at the North Carolina Music Educators' Convention held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  

 

In 2019 the Bunker Hill Wind Ensemble was also invited to do a joint concert with the UNC Symphony Band. In 2016 and 2017 the Pit Orchestra at Bunker Hill was nominated for Best Student Orchestra in the Blumey Awards by the Blumenthal Theatre. In 2012 the Asheville High School Marching Band was chosen to be the North Carolina representative for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration.
